1. LAURA KIM AND FERNANDO GARCIA appointed new co-creative directors at OSCAR DE LA RENTA
After Peter Copping’s made his exit from Oscar de la Renta, designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia were appointed as the new co-creative directors.
Both Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, who were former employees at Oscar de la Renta before establishing the cult label Monse,
have been reported to debut their first Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 collection at the New York Fashion Week in February.
2. RAF SIMONS NOW AT CALVIN KLEIN, AFTER LEAVING DIOR
The new Cheif Creative Officer of Calvin Klein (previously worked for Dior ) is Scheduled to debut his 1st collection for Calvin Klein on February 10 during New York Fashion Week,
The Fall / Winter 2017 collection will consist of both menswear and womenswear on the runway, marking the 1st co-ed presentation for the American brand.
3. REI KAWAKUBO’s MET GALA EXIBITION
The Met Gala Event is one of the biggest events of the year across the fashion industry and also amonst the entertainment industry.
This year’s subject / theme is the elusive Rei Kawakubo, who has never Even attended a Met Gala before.
Kawakubo is the second designer alive since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 , to get a solo exhibition.
The gala will take place on May 1, 2017, where Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams would represent as the night’s co-chairs.
4. THE MOVIE(Biopic) – Fashion Designer ALEXANDER McQUEEN
A biopic of Alexander McQueen , one of the most talented British designer , is scheduled to release at the end of 2017.
actor Jack O’Connell, a dead ringer for the late Lee McQueen, has been tapped to star as the lead in the movie
The script of the movie is based on Andrew Wilson’s biography, “Blood Beneath the Skin,” This is one of our most anticipated films of the coming year.
5.Versace Says No to ‘ Haute-Couture Shows’
Versace will not be holding its usual fashion show ,on the opening night of the Haute couture spring 2017 shows in Paris,
they instead choose to opt for a no. of “major client events” during the year in cities across the globe.
“At the moment, we do six shows a year, and my feeling is: That’s a lot of shows,” chief executive, Jonathan Akeroyd said.
“Eight, if you count couture, seems excessive. And we all know the model is changing quite a lot, so why not take the opportunity to try something new?”
