Maria Grazia Chiuri made her debut with the first collection for CHRISTIAN DIOR at the Haute Couture Spring 2017 Fashion Week in Paris.
The collection was nothing less than a Fairytale , and thus her 1st show’s set in a garden maze within a tent set in the gardens of the Musée Rodin.
You only had to acknowledge that the green labyrinth, a huge, leafy, mossy maze with the Tree of Life, strung around with fairy lights, was truly magical.
Henceforth , this commendable thought/ idea of Chiuri brought the silhouettes to life due to the beautiful setting and transported the observers into a dreamland .
Chiuri’s yielded some beautiful astrological and tarot embroideries on taffeta dresses in this year’s collection.
The ‘ fantasy ‘ midnight silk gown hand painted with a streaking gold comet was an artful amalgamation of Dior and Chiuri .
Fresh-faced nymphs walked down the Dior runway in a low kitten heels and boots, wearing ingenue ball gowns with wispy lingerie straps, and a wide variety of poetically playful flower tiaras and garden inspired headdresses by Stephen Jones.
Chiuri softened the corseted stricture of the Dior silloutes —
by making use of techniques like supple fan pleating to create peplums, volumes in sleeves, and swirls in skirts.
This included – ankle-grazing ballerina length wide “Tuxedo” culottes.
